Painting with watercolours has a lightness and fluidity that both beginners and experienced students can use to great effect. Learn techniques of watercolour painting as you explore subjects such as landscape, still life and individual ideas. Watercolour washes, colour mixing, composition tips and the importance of a focal point. Learn how to create watercolour paintings that glow. This is a class for beginners and intermediate watercolour painters to explore watercolour painting in a step by step class.

H2. Materials to bring the first night
*A3 art board for taping watercolour paper onto
• Masking tape
*Paper: Arches 300gsm A3 size. It’s cheaper to buy in single sheet and cut up, which we can do in class if you’re not sure. Bring 2 A3 sheets and something to transport them in.
*Colours in tubes please: Ultramarine Blue and Cerulean Blue; Alizarin Crimson and Cadmium red; Lemon yellow and Indian yellow; Indigo and Viridian (Cotman’s or equivalent quality is fine)
*Brushes: Variety of watercolour brushes, standard length (not long handled) Sizes: 4,8,12 and a rigger 00 (for details) 1" soft and flat for large washes, square end. Synthetic hair (taklon) is fine. Please don’t purchase sable brushes if you’re a beginner.
*White plastic palette with at least 8 small compartments with a larger mixing tray or 2.
*Small spray bottle for water
*An old hand towel
*Box of tissues
*Big and small water containers (1 each)
*2B pencil and eraser
