Course Outline
Learn the basics of Auslan, the native language of the Australian Deaf Community. This self-paced course is perfect for people who are learning Auslan for the first time and who have no previous experience in using sign language. We will show how you can have fun communicating visually and without using spoken English.
Presented in partnership with The NSW Deaf Society, Sign Online is a self-paced online course. It has 14 hours' worth of video content and online quizzes.
There are seven modules that you can complete, students have 8 weeks to complete all the tasks.

Outcomes
By the end of Sign Online, you will be able to:
- Greet others and introduce yourself
- Give and request personal details such as phone numbers and addresses
- Count in Auslan
- Fingerspell in Auslan
- Ask and answer simple questions (using “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, etc.)
- Communicate practical vocabulary including colours, days of the week and family
- Use visual-gestural communication strategies
- Identify the Deaf Community and explain effective ways of communicating with deaf people
